Karla Estrada, originally Carla Elago Ford, was born on November 21, 1974, in Tacloban City. Her mother is Filipino, and her father is American. Unfortunately, her father left shortly after her birth due to misinformation that Karla had passed away.
According to an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya recounting her life, Karla was born into a wealthy family. However, following her grandfather’s death, who had been the primary provider for the family, they relocated to Tacloban. Despite this upheaval, Karla nurtured a childhood dream of becoming an actress and participated in singing contests. Her talent was noticed by a manager in Quezon City, leading to her debut in That’s Entertainment.

Karla Estrada is best known as the mother of Daniel Padilla, whom she gave birth to at the age of 20. Rommel Padilla is Daniel’s father. Three years later, Karla took Daniel to visit Rommel Padilla in prison. She also has three other children: Jose Carlito with Naldy Padilla when she was 21, Margaret with former Quezon City councilor Mike Planas, and Carmella with another man.
At 18, Karla sought out her father, who apologized for not being aware of her survival after birth. In 2016, she shared that she had reconciled with her father and described herself as his “carbon copy.”
Additionally, Karla Estrada is the cousin of Antonio Aquitania.
